A medical team in the General Surgery Department at King Faisal Hospital in Makkah Al-Mukarramah performed an operation on an 18-year-old girl suffering from a stomach lump, and by extracting it, it turned out that it collected more than a kilogram of hair in the stomach and twelve.
In details, the patient came to the hospital suffering from abdominal pain, and after conducting the necessary analyzes and rays and examining through the endoscope, it was found that there was a mass of hair more than a kilogram inside the stomach, and it formed on her entire wall, which led to the surgical intervention, where the medical team extracted the entire mass from The stomach and the duodenum, as it turned out that the patient had been gnawing hair for a long time, causing her stomach pains, and the surgery was successful and the patient’s condition was stable.
For her part, the consultant surgeon, Dr. Al-Anoud Shishah, explained that these cases are usually among teenage girls who may be subjected to psychological pressures that cause such behavior, asking all families to educate their children to prevent such behavior from occurring.
